Yesterday, there was a scare that Android tablets may be coming to an abrupt end as users noticed that the tablet category on Android’s official website was missing. When enthusiasts tried to search for already existing tablets, they were redirected to the home page. However, Google has now clarified that this is just a bug in the website update process, and the tablet category has now been restored.
It was not difficult to speculate that Google has eliminated its tablet category because Android tablet has not performed well for some time and there has been a consistent decline. As of today, there is a huge deterioration in the demand for tablets. According to the latest data from IDC, the global tablet shipments in the first quarter of 2018 fell by 11.7% year-on-year. iPads fared pretty well by achieving 28.8% market share, its highest in four years.
