Samsung Galaxy J2 Core : Samsung announces its first Android Go smartphone in India

It’s official. Samsung has finally jumped on the Android Go bandwagon with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy J2 Core following months of leaks and rumors.

While Samsung hasn’t announced the Galaxy J2 Core price, 91mobiles reports that the device will go on sale in India and Malaysia starting today, before it is made available to other markets globally.

The phone is not one that will turn heads, its pretty much like every other Android Go smartphones so far released. It boots  Android Oreo (Go edition) out of the box, though we not sure if Sammy will be pushing out the Android Pie Go edition update, and it is preloaded with Go versions of Google’s apps designed for increased speed, less demand on storage, and efficient data use. This includes the brand new Google Go, Files Go and Gmail Go, and performance optimization to Chrome & Google Play.

On the display front is a 5-inch TFT display bearing a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels, and underneath that is Samsung’s own Exynos 7570 Quad-Core 14nm processor with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable storage.

There is no fingerprint in sight, neither is there a face unlock functionality,  though there is an 8-megapixel sensor with a f/2.2 aperture and an LED flash at the back, while a 5-megapixel f/2.2 shooter with Beauty Mode sits above the display.

Powered by a 2600mAh battery, the Galaxy J2 Core gets a full host of connectivity options including 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
