Nubia Red Magic 3 spotted in the wild with a modest design update

In case you missed it, Nubia GM Ni Fei revealed via a Weibo post some days back that the company will be announcing the Nubia Red Magic 3 on April 28 at the RNG eSports Centre in Beijing, China. That didn’t come as a surprise since there have been numerous rumors pointing to April launch date for the Nubia Red Magic 3.

The company hasn’t revealed any specific details related to the phone’s design, some live photos of the phone have surfaced on the web, giving us our first look at the upcoming device. The images are masked in a protective casing and only reveals the rear side of the device. And if these images are to be believed, the Nubia Red Magic 3 won’t get a radical change in design compared to the Red Magic Mars which in itself was a replica of the Magic 2 albeit the addition of new shoulder buttons.

Gizchina News of the week

These images suggest the Red Magic 3 will retain the unique LED light strip on the metal back, a fingerprint scanner and perhaps the only slight modification is in the rear camera module. There is still a single camera at the rear with a LED flash, but rather than a hexagonal camera module, the Magic 3 gets a Pentagon-shaped module.

Predictably, the device will house the premium SD 855 SoC with up to 12GB of RAM and perhaps up to 256GB of storage, and that will be coupled with a built-in fan that is expected to actively keep the temperature at bay as opposed to previous models which had a vapor chamber which directed heats to vent for passive cooling.  Previous teaser hint at a larger than 5000mAh battery with 30W fast charging, while the display is tipped to have a “higher refresh rate than most gaming PCs”, perhaps a refresh rate of 120Hz or even more. We expect to see more details in the coming days.
