Fresh Redmi K20 teaser confirms pop-up selfie camera

For Xiaomi and Redmi fans, this month is shaping out to be an interesting one, as there are several new products tipped to be announced in the coming days. The Redmi Note 7S, Redmi 7A, and the Redmi K20 flagship killer are all billed to be launched later this month, but the most anticipated of the upcoming device appears to be the Redmi K20 smartphone.

Following the confirmation of the Redmi K20 moniker, we’ve seen its impressive benchmark scorescamera samples, and even a well-detailed spec list, and now we’ve information regarding its design. Courtesy of Redmi’s GM, Lu Weibing, we can now confirm the Redmi K20 and K20 Pro will both feature a motorized selfie camera that slides out from the top frame similar to the recently announced Realme X.

In one of the several posts on his Weibo page, the GM revealed that the K20 will be much lighter in weight compared to other smartphones with a similar pop-up design which weigh not less than 210g.

With the pop-up camera, which will reportedly carry a 20-megapixel sensor, the Redmi K20 will be the brand’s first smartphone to flaunt a full all screen display with no notch or whatsoever. And similar to the recently announced Oneplus 7 Pro which has been reportedly tested to take up to 300,000 movements, Lu Weibing further states that the K20 Pop-up mechanism has been tested for durability, with reports from its Engineer suggesting the device can take way above 300,000 pop-ups which will last more than 8 years if you were to take a 100 selfies per day.

Do note that claims like this are to be taken with a grain of salt, after all, Samsung in a video released before the Galaxy Fold imbroglio claimed the device could withstand at least 200,000 folds and unfolds.

Besides the Pop-up camera system, previous teasers suggest the K20 will be powered by a Snapdragon 855 CPU paired with the Adreno 640,  6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB variants. Other specs include a 6.39-inch OLED display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio with a 1080p+ resolution, a 48MP coupled with a 13MP camera with f/2.4 and an 8MP with f/2.4 camera, while the selfie cam will get a 20MP sensor. It is expected to come with a 4000mAh battery, and in Carbon Black, Glacier Blue, and Flame Red. Other details, as well as the release date, has yet to be revealed
