Oppo is one of the most traditional Chinese smartphone makers with years of experience in the segment. However, the company finally “found its way” with the release of the Realme sub-brand. The venture allowed Oppo to learn with past mistakes and the company decided to diversify its smartphone offerings. Now, Oppo has a solid presence in most of the market segments with good smartphones and competitive prices. You can get a premium Oppo smartphone, but can also get a capable mid-range device with the company’s logo nowadays. For this latter niche, the company is unveiling a new offer today in the form of Oppo A33.

The device was released in Indonesia today alongside the Oppo A53. It comes as a super affordable offering for customers that want to have a good experience in the smartphone market, but that can’t pay more than $150. For that price range, the A33 does impressively well.

Under the hood, the have the Snapdragon 460 chipset. This chipset currently sits as the most powerful Snapdragon 4xx SoC and finally brings some Cortex-A73 power to the low-end category of Qualcomm chipsets. The Octa-Core chip is paired with 3GB of RAM and 256GB of expandable storage. Just like the Oppo A53, the phone also flaunts a 6.5-inch LCD with a 90Hz refresh rate. Interestingly enough, this also is an HD+ panel and reinforces a current trend. Oppo is bringing high-refresh-rate displays to low-end HD panels and this is amazing. After all, more and more users will get access to the smooth scrolling experience provided by displays of this kind. Consequently, other companies will need to adopt this in order to compete.

The device’s display brings a top-left aligned punch-hole that serves as a house for an 8MP snapper with f/2.0 aperture.
