The true Pixel flagship smartphone is rumored to launch in March 2021

Pixel 5

Google Pixel 5 has become a strange device of the company. On the one hand, it has flagship features like wireless charging and IP68 protection. On the other hand, it was deprived of the top chip and flagship performance. And this decision was not liked by many, so large sales of the Pixel 5 are not expected.

But unexpectedly, a rumor appeared on the network that Google will still release a flagship with a powerful processor and its release may occur in March 2021. True, the well-known and authoritative network source Max Weinbach questioned the reliability of this information, said that it is an unfounded rumor. Therefore, this information should be treated with a big amount of skepticism.

Most likely, Google will not follow the path of releasing the flagship next spring. Recall that when creating the Pixel 5, the abandonment of the top SoC was to keep the price tag of the smartphone low and because of the high cost of the Snapdragon 865. There is no prerequisite that the Snapdragon 875 will cost less. Its price tag will also be high, and this was the reason that LG could decide not to use the new 5 nm chip in its smartphones.

And to release a product with Snapdragon 865/865+ on board in the spring of 2021 and pass it off as a flagship is not a logical decision and too late.

It is worth to mention that all the promotional images for the new Pixel 5 feature very narrow bezels. Well, it seems that this time the images are true – most likely, the manufacturer puts the speaker under the display.

This interesting design aspect was noticed by Reddit users after checking out the official Pixel 5 hardware diagram. It shows that the earpiece is clearly not touching the top bezel and exists under the screen. Slightly above it are the proximity and light sensors – the location, by the way, is similar to that implemented in the Pixel 4a, where the last component is located under the display to the right of the speaker.
