Yesterday, the first look at the Xiaomi Mi 11 packaging box appeared online. However, there was a big question about the size of the box which is only slightly bigger than that of the iPhone 12. The size of this box raised speculations that the Xiaomi Mi 1 series will not come with a charger. Well, the speculations were right. There is now an official confirmation that indeed the Mi 11 series will not come with a charger in the box. In a Weibo post today, Xiaomi announced that the Mi 11 will use a new packaging that is thin and light.
The company further said
“…Mi 11 cancels the in-box charger in response to the call for technology and environmental protection. Today, everyone has a lot of idle chargers. This is not entirely good and a burden on the environment”.
Since Xiaomi is going to cancel the in-box charger, it must have a compensation plan. It could be a technological breakthrough or a marketing plan, the specific content will public next Monday.
Whether there is a charger or not, this smartphone still comes with a lot of exciting features. This device will be the first to use the Snapdragon 888 SoC. It will also improve its camera department with the new computational photography which brings new breakthroughs in high-end imaging. For its display, something big is coming our way.
Lei Jun claims that the Xiaomi Mi 11 screen costs a lot of money to customize. According to him, this is the top screen ever made by Mi mobile phones, and it may also be the most expensive screen in the industry. There are also reports that the cost of this screen is comparable to that of a mainstream TV screen. In addition, this series will be the first Chinese phone to use the Corning Gorilla Glass 7. It is not only resistant to drops, it is also scratch-resistant.
Xiaomi Mi 11 previous speculations
There have been numerous leaks and speculations regarding the Xiaomi Mi 11 series. For starters, this series will have at least two versions – Xiaomi Mi 11 and Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro. Both smartphones will continue to use a punch-hole design. However, while the Mi 11 uses a hyperboloid screen, the Mi 11 Pro comes with a 2K quad-curved screen. The displays support up to 120Hz refresh rate as well as the native 10bit color depth.
Judging from the leaked real images of the Mi 11, it uses a blue gradient back shell. Furthermore, the rear camera layout has a square design. This compartment holds two large sensors and a small sensor above the LED light. However, the Mi 11 Pro is expected to adopt a horizontal matrix camera design.
In addition, the Mi 11 Pro will support up to 100W super-fast charging. Recall that this is the specification of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Extreme Edition. Nevertheless, there are speculations that the Mi 11 Pro charging power may be up to 120W fast charging. The basic version of the series will receive a battery with a capacity of 4780mAh, and the larger variant with a 4970mAh battery. The standard version camera will have three lenses (108 MP + 13 MP + 5 MP), while the Mi 11 Pro will have a more interesting set of sensors: 50 MP + 48 MP + 20 MP + 12 MP.
Also, the Mi 11 appeared on Geekbench today. As expected, this smartphone comes with Qualcomm’s latest 5G flagship SoC, Snapdragon 888. It also has up to 12GB of RAM and runs Android 11. This device recorded a single core of 1135 points and a multi-core of 3790 points. This obviously meets Qualcomm’s official standard for the Snapdragon 888 SoC.
