Xiaomi Mi 12 & Mi MIX 5 may use up to 120W fast charging

Xiaomi Mi 12 series

After the official launch of the iPhone 13 series, we now look towards other upcoming Android flagships. Two flagships that easily come to mind are the Xiaomi Mi 12 and Xiaomi Mi MIX 5. According to reports, the Xiaomi Mi 12 may arrive as early as November this year. However, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 5 should launch next year. From what we already know, these smartphones should come with Qualcomm’s latest flagship processor, Snapdragon 898 SoC.

Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra

This morning, popular Weibo leakster, @DCS posted a piece of relevant information about Xiaomi’s new flagship. According to the post, Xiaomi’s new flagship will use a new generation of fast chargers. The model number of the charger is “MDY-13-E*”. This charger still supports 120W, but the volume is smaller. Also, it retains its high power charging speed for much longer.

Gizchina News of the week

This means that Xiaomi’s new generation 120W fast charging technology is not only more portable, but also charges faster. The report reveals that its charging time may once again set a new record.

Judging from the current news from many sources, next year’s Xiaomi Mi 12 and Xiaomi Mi MIX 5 may be equipped with this new fast-charging head. Of course, we expect the Xiaomi Mi 12 to debut this new technology.

In addition to fast charging, previous reports claim that the Xiaomi Mi 12 flagship will come with two main camera solutions. It will use a 50-megapixel ultra-large camera solution as well as another 200MP ultra-high Pixel main camera. This is also the only smartphone that is rumored to come with a 200MP camera. At present, there is only one 200MP sensor on the market, which is Samsung’s latest ISOCELL HP1 sensor. This sensor not only has 200MP but also supports 16-in-one technology, which can be “transformed” into one with 2.56μm. It is also important to note that some report claims that the Xiaomi Mi 12 will miss out on the 200MP camera.

Xiaomi Mi 12 speculations

The Mi 12 series will come with an LTPO adaptive refresh rate screen. This feature will realize an adaptive refresh rate adjustment function between 1 – 120Hz. This feature will also bring an automatic adjustment of the display. This means that when a user activates a high-demanding game, the refresh rate of the display automatically sets to 120Hz. However, when the user is on a social app, it reduces the refresh rate significantly. This will ultimately help in the power consumption of the device. The original plan for the Xiaomi Mi 12 shows that it will support 120W wired fast charging and 100W wireless charging. However, due to the implementation of the new wireless charging regulations, wireless fast charging above 50W will be prohibited. Considering the embargo on wireless charging above 50W, Xiaomi Mi 12 may focus on wired fast charging to make up for the wireless restrictions.
