OnePlus Pad Tablet To Run Android 12L OS, Q1 2022 Launch Likely

OnePlus Pad Android 12L

The OnePlus Pad tablet will boot a different version of Android 12 dubbed the Android 12L OS, which is designed for foldable devices. If rumors making the rounds online are anything to go by, OnePlus is currently working on a tablet. Despite the lack of an official confirmation, the word on the street is that the device will carry the OnePlus Pad moniker. Aside from that, other details about the upcoming OnePlus tablet are still scarce. Nevertheless, it seems safe to assume that it will pack top-notch hardware.

With the OnePlus Pad tablet’s rumored launch timeline approaching, some vital pieces of information about the device are popping up online. Now, a new leak is shedding some light on the tablet’s software. Reputed tipster Yogesh Brar has confirmed to 91mobiles that the OnePlus Pad will run Android 12L OS. For those who are unaware, this operating system was developed for tablets and other foldable devices. Furthermore, the UI will fit the larger aspect ratio perfectly, rather than stretching out as the existing Android OS does.

Regrettably, Yogesh did not divulge the launch timeline of the OnePlus Pad. However, an earlier report suggests that OnePlus will be launching its new tablet in India in the first half of 2022. In other words, OnePlus could announce the tablet in the next few weeks. Moreover, there will be at least one Indian variant, according to past leaks. To recall, OnePlus trademarked the OnePlus Pad moniker in July last year. As expected, this sparked speculations surrounding the brand’s purported tablet. Also, these developments are a sign that the tablet’s launch is around the corner.

What Else To Expect?

Furthermore, a report by GizmoChina suggests that the OnePlus Pad could boast nearly the same specifications as the Oppo Pad. In fact, the publications speculate that the OnePlus Pad could turn out to be a rebranded version of Oppo’s tablet for global markets. If this prediction proves to be true, the OnePlus Pad could offer a 120Hz refresh rate display. Under the hood, the tablet will pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor. For optics, it will house a 13MP rear-mounted camera and an 8MP front shooter.

Also, if the new OnePlus tablet is a rebranded Oppo Pad, it will offer ColorOS PC Connect support, and pack a battery with 33W fast charging. More details about the OnePlus Pad will surface online ahead of launch. In the meantime, OnePlus is prepping to launch the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite soon. The upcoming handset will reportedly come with a 64MP OmniVision main camera. Aside from that, it will have a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP mono lens. Upfront, the phone will house a 16MP Sony IMX471 camera for selfies.
