Xiaomi wrote “Strategic partnership in imagery technology”. According to reports, the company will officially release this device in July this year. This is not the first time that Leica is cooperating with a smartphone brand. Recall that Leica already has a strategic partnership with Sharp, Huawei and Panasonic. Taking Huawei as an example, its camera is significantly better after its cooperation with Leica. Huawei smartphones remains at the top of DxOMark rankings for many months.

Considering that Xiaomi also hit the top of the DxOMark ranking with the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, its cooperation with Leica should improve its camera specs. As of now, there is no official information from Xiaomi with regards to what Leica will bring to the table. Furthermore, the company did not also reveal the specs of the upcoming flagship smartphone.

The new flagship platform, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, achieves double breakthroughs in energy efficiency and performance.  According to reports, this chip comes with significant changes in six aspects.  This time, the company uses TSMC’s 4nm process on the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Recall that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 uses Samsung’s 4nm process. However, the SD 8+ still uses an eight-core architecture including 1 Cortex X2 super core + 3 A710 large cores + 4 A510 small cores. Officially, its performance improves by 10%. While a 10% improvement in performance may be small, the chip also optimizes its power consumption. Relative to the previous generation, the power consumption of this chip reduces by about 15%.

According to Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun, the partnership will offer a good boost to the company’s camera department. Back in 2016, Huawei was the first Chinese brand to partner with Leica. Similarly, Oppo and OnePlus partner with Hasselblad, while Vivo is with Zeiss.
