Oppo is reportedly working on the Oppo A98 5G – a mid-range budget smartphone with model number CPH2529. Several certification websites have listed the smartphone before the company talks about it. The sites include China’s CQC, Indonesia’s TKDN, and Thailand’s NBTC. Users have also spotted the smartphone on Geekbench and HTML5 Test.

The company is considering the Asian and European markets for the initial release. As the phone is in its final stages, tipsters such as Appuals are revealing the A98 5G’s main specifications and renders. Leaks suggest that the phone is a reliable option for people who prefer a budget smartphone with good performance.

As per the leaks, the smartphone may feature an LTPS LCD panel. The screen measures 6.7 inches with the ability to offer FHD + 1080 P screen resolution. This may not be an attractive feature as most smartphones in this price range have either OLED or AMOLED displays. Nonetheless, there is nothing to worry about; it is still a good choice.

The screen also has a 20:9 aspect ratio, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and a pixel density of 391ppi. The Oppo A98 5G comes with Panda Glass protection for a scratchless experience. The phone runs on Android 13 based on ColorOS 13. Like the Samsung Galaxy S10e, this smartphone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The Snapdragon 695 chipset provides the basis for good performance, which is supported by 8 GB of RAM. There is also 256GB of internal storage and a 5,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging ability. The 32-megapixel front and 64-megapixel rear cameras deliver the best shots ever – all thanks to supporting characters including f/1.8 aperture, 2-megapixel macro camera, and 2-megapixel depth sensor.

The Oppo A98 5G may also feature Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, dual SIM, microSD card slot, and GPS. The 192-gram Oppo phone may measure 165.6 x 76.1 x 8.2 mm. The price tag is still a mystery to us. There are rumors that this phone could be a rebranded version of the OPPO A1 5G.
