For months now we have been hearing rumors of the
iPad's, 3 or 2S, high resolution
screen, but it seems now that MacRumors have come across some solid proof. What we actually mean by 'come across' is that MacRumors actually just went an ordered an 3 module online to see if it was in fact the real deal.
They took the purported
iPad 3
display under a microscope and compared the unit to the module found on the
iPad 2. As you can see from the picture above, the
iPad 3 actually has 4 pixels for every one
iPad 2 pixel!
The
new iPad 3
screen will have a resolution of 2048 x 1536, which will actually make it a Retina
Retina display, but we imagine
Apple will name it Retina
HD or something similar.
It won't just be the
iPad 3 which will be getting a resolution boost this year as it is also thought that the
Macbook Pro range of laptops will get Retina displays also, and that
Apple's latest OS, Mountain Lion will take advantage of the extra pixels.
