The biggest
gaming event,
Gamescom,
held in Cologne, Germany, from August 20 to 24, has set new records.
Gamescom
2025 welcomed an incredible 357,000 people, marking a 6.5% increase compared to
last year’s 335,000 visitors.
Attendees came from 128 countries, showing how
much global interest in gaming continues to grow.
Over 34,000 of these visitors
were trade professionals from regions like Asia and North America.
The exhibition space itself was
massive. A record 1,568 companies from 72 countries set up booths across
233,000 square meters of floor space at the Cologne Fair.
Everywhere you
looked, there was something new to see, from big-name studios to smaller independent
developers.
Opening
Night Live Smashes Viewing Numbers
One of the biggest highlights of
Gamescom was Opening Night Live, hosted by Geoff Keighley on August 19.
The
broadcast reached an astonishing 72 million viewers worldwide, almost double
the 40 million who tuned in last year. That’s an 80% jump in just one year.
But the excitement didn’t stop
there. As of last Saturday, all of Gamescom content, including shows and
streams, had pulled in a combined 630 million viewers worldwide.
This just goes
to show that Gamescom is a force to be reckoned with in the
gaming industry.
