Alongside the launch of the
Pixel 10 series, Google has also rolled out a brand-new feature for
Google Photos — conversational AI-powered editing. This was rumored a few weeks back, and now it’s official. The feature is launching first on the Pixel 10 lineup in the US.
How Google Photos AI Conversation Works
So, what does this mean? Basically, you can now tell
Google Photos what edits you want, either by typing or speaking, and the app will do the rest. No need to manually dig through editing tools — just describe it the way you would to a friend.
For example, you could say things like:
- “Remove the cars in the background.”
- “Fix the washed-out colors.”
- “Restore this old photo.”
- Or even a simple, “Make it better.”
Google’s
Gemini AI will handle the heavy lifting, applying edits in real time. And if you don’t know exactly what you want, the
Google Photos app will even suggest some ideas to get you started. You can also refine things with follow-up instructions until the picture looks just right. You’re not limited either — you can remove objects, tweak the background, or even add new items.
Transparency in AI Editing
Another big addition is Google’s push for transparency in AI editing. The Pixel 10 phones are the first to use industry-standard C2PA Content Credentials directly in the native camera app. This applies to all photos — whether or not they’ve been edited with AI. Basically, it means you’ll be able to see information about how a picture was taken or altered, giving users more trust in the final image.
Google Photos itself is also adding support for C2PA. That way, when you’re scrolling through your gallery, you’ll be able to check the details of how an image was created or modified. The rollout starts with the Pixel 10 series, but Google says it will gradually expand to Android and iOS devices in the coming weeks.
