Huawei is getting ready to launch its second tri-fold smartphone, the Mate XTs. The device will be unveiled on September 4 at 2:30 PM in Beijing (6:30 AM UTC). It will succeed last year’s Mate XT and continue Huawei’s focus on foldable phones.

Teaser Shows New Look

Huawei Mate XTs
Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei’s Consumer Business Group, posted a short teaser video ahead of the launch. In it, he uses a stylus on the main display, suggesting better support for productivity tasks. The phone shown in the teaser comes in a white finish with gold accents. Its size looks similar to the Mate XT.

Expected Upgrades

Leaks suggest the Mate XTs will feature the Kirin 9020 chip with satellite connectivity. With this new chip on board, the smartphone has a stronger performance and better network coverage than the previous model.
In the camera department, the tech giant is said to include a 50MP main sensor coupled with a variable aperture, just like other Huawei flagships. This will give the device an extra photography muscle in both daylight and low-light environments. This device is also set to feature improved zoom capabilities with the included Telephoto lens.

Screens and Battery

Reports claim Huawei will keep the same screen design and battery size as the Mate XT. The main improvements seem to focus on processing power, connectivity, and the camera system rather than hardware changes to the display or battery.

Huawei Mate XTs Pricing

The Mate XTs is rumored to cost the same as its predecessor in China: CNY 20,000 (about $2,800). That places it firmly in the ultra-premium category of foldable phones.

Conclusion

The maiden edition, the Mate XT is still out there as one of the most advanced foldable smartphone in history. The second edition, with all the new features and improvements should be enough to elevate the MTs further up.
September 4th is just around the corner for Huawei to make the official announcement. Full details of the will be out on tye announcement day. Stay tuned.
