Honor isn’t waiting for launch day to show off its new Magic8 Pro. The company
dropped fresh teasers this week, all focused on one thing — the phone’s 200-megapixel telephoto camera.
It uses a 1/1.4-inch sensor, runs on the company’s AIMAGE Nox Engine, and has a fairly bright f/2.6 aperture. The highlight, though, is the claim of being the first phone to ship with CIPA 5.5-stop image stabilization. Translation: it should keep shots steady even when your hands aren’t.
Honor says you can shoot at shutter speeds more than five times slower and still get a sharp image.
What the big sensor means
Two hundred megapixels might sound like marketing fluff, but there’s logic behind it. The idea is simple — more detail to work with when you zoom in. Combined with that stabilization, you should get cleaner long-range shots without the mush or noise that smaller sensors struggle with.
The Nox Engine quietly handles exposure, focus, and color tweaks on the fly. You won’t see it working, but it’s the bit that makes the camera feel smarter than it really is.
Inside the phone
Under the hood sits Qualcomm’s
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. It’s paired with up to 16 GB of RAM and as much as 1 TB of storage. Power comes from a 7,000 mAh battery that supports 120 W wired charging plus wireless charging. That combo alone should make the Magic8 Pro one of the longest-lasting flagships around.
Software and launch timing
Honor will unveil the Magic8 and Magic8 Pro on October 15, together with
MagicOS 10, its Android 16-based interface. Expect smoother animations, tighter cross-device syncing, and a handful of AI tricks tied into the new camera system.
Rumors and extras
Leaks hint at a 144 Hz LTPO OLED display, an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, and improved cooling for gaming. The rest of the rear setup should include a 50 MP main and a 50 MP ultra-wide camera — a balanced trio for most use cases.
