The new 64-bit MT67xx series of SoCs from
MediaTek have impressed one and all... and with every passing week, component costs and overall device costs powered by these SoCs are going down.
What's interesting is, the same MT6752 processors (and variants thereof) can be found powering
phones as expensive as the
Gionee Elife S7... and as affordable as the newly launched Lenovo A7000. The latter went live in the Indian market earlier today for an impressive 8,999 INR or roughly US$144 to compete against the likes of the
Cyanogen OS powered Yu Yureka.
The A7000 succeeds the fairly popular A6000, and comes with 2GB RAM, 8GB on-board ROM,
5.5-inch 1280 x 720p display, 2900mAh battery and 8 mega-pixel / 5 mega-pixel cameras.

The phone comes with 4G
LTE thanks to the MediaTek SoC of choice, and will be available via online reseller
Flipkart in a flash sale model, similar to the one adopted by Xiaomi.
