Oppo just kicked off 2026 by taking the Reno15 series global, starting with Taiwan on January 2nd. This launch is a bit of a curveball. For the first time, we’re seeing a "Pro Max" branding in the Reno lineup. It’s a clear move to simplify their tiers, but if you look at the specs, it’s actually a rebranding of the Pro model we saw in China back in late 2025. Meanwhile, the global "Pro" is a compact 6.32-inch device that many are calling a "Pro Mini."

Key Points:

  • The Pro Max features a 6.78-inch screen, while the Pro is a compact 6.32-inch.
  • Both use the MediaTek Dimensity 8450 SoC with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM.
  • A massive 200MP main camera and 50MP periscope zoom are standard.
  • Battery tech has peaked with 6,500mAh (Max) and 6,200mAh (Pro) capacities.
  • The series is IP69 rated, resisting both high-pressure jets and deep water.

Hardware: The Dimensity 8450 Factor

Both the Reno15 Pro and the Pro Max are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8450. This isn't the top-tier 9400, but it’s a 3nm beast built for efficiency. In my early testing, it’s snappy, though it leans heavily on the "Agentic AI" engine to handle background tasks. If you’re a heavy gamer, the Mali-G720 GPU holds up, but the real draw here is the 44% improvement in power efficiency MediaTek is claiming over last year's chips.

Design and Display

The Pro Max is the giant of the group, featuring a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel. It’s protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which is basically a requirement at this $795 (NT$ 24,990) price point. The standard Pro ($670) is the surprise hit for me. It’s rare to find a 6.3-inch phone that doesn't feel like a "budget" compromise. It actually has a higher pixel density (460 PPI) than its bigger brother because of that smaller footprint.

The 200MP Camera Setup

Oppo put the same camera hardware in both Pro models. You get a 200MP main sensor with OIS and a 50MP periscope telephoto. The 3.5x optical zoom is the sweet spot for portraits. What’s impressive is the 50MP front camera. It’s an ultra-wide sensor with a 100-degree field of view, making it one of the best vlogging setups on the market right now.

Battery and Survival

Batteries have taken a massive leap this year. The Pro Max carries a 6,500mAh cell, while the compact Pro still manages 6,200mAh. Both support 80W wired charging, but only the Max gets the 50W wireless treatment. More importantly, the entire lineup is IP69 rated. You can literally hit these phones with a high-pressure power washer and they’ll keep recording.
