Samsung is taking its partnership with
Google from your pocket to your pantry. In a major
announcement ahead of CES 2026, the tech giant confirmed that its upcoming
Bespoke AI refrigerator lineup will be the first home appliances to feature
Google’s Gemini AI.
By integrating
Gemini into Samsung’s existing
Vision AI system, the refrigerator’s internal cameras have received a massive IQ boost. Instead of just identifying basic fruits and vegetables, the fridge can now recognize roughly 50 different types of items, including complex packaged goods.
Key Points
- Gemini Integration: Samsung is the first to bring Google’s Gemini AI to home appliances via Vision AI.
- Label Recognition: The system can now read handwritten or printed labels on food containers to update inventory.
- Expanded Database: Food recognition capabilities have grown to identify approximately 50 different object types.
- Wine Management: A new AI Wine Manager logs labels, vintages, and storage locations automatically.
- 2026 Rollout: Features will debut on the Bespoke AI Family Hub and Infinite Wine Refrigerator models next year.
The End of Manual Grocery Lists
The most impressive trick up Gemini’s sleeve is its ability to read. The AI can now scan handwritten or printed labels on your leftover containers. If you write "Spicy Chicken - Dec 21" on a Tupperware lid, the fridge will automatically read that text and register it in your digital inventory.
Samsung is also launching the AI Food Manager, which acts as a culinary conductor. It tracks what you have, warns you before things expire, and suggests recipes based on your actual inventory. If you’re a wine collector, the new AI Wine Manager (integrated with SmartThings) will do the same for your cellar—automatically logging labels, vintages, and varietals just by seeing the bottle.
A Smarter Kitchen Ecosystem
This rollout isn't just for one flagship model. Samsung plans to bring these Gemini-powered features to its entire
2026 premium lineup, including:
- Bespoke AI Family Hub (the one with the massive screen)
- Bespoke AI Hybrid (focused on energy efficiency)
- Infinite AI Wine Refrigerator
As Moon Jong-seung, Samsung’s Digital Appliances VP, put it, this collaboration is about moving away from "static" appliances and toward a "differentiated food experience." We expect to see these units in person at the "The First Look" event in Las Vegas next month.
