Samsung is making it much easier to stay on top of your phone calls. With the upcoming One UI 8.5 update, the company is giving its "Now Bar" a helpful makeover. According to recent leaks from Tarun Vats, this new software will let you see missed calls right at the bottom of your lock screen. It is a small change that will likely save you a lot of time throughout your day.

Making Information Easier to Reach

The Now Bar feature was first introduced in One UI 7, and it was developed by Samsung to help users access important information without having to unlock their devices or go through different menus. The Now Bar is found at the bottom of the display, in a clean space called the "Now Brief" section. This is the best location for the information that you need to know in an instant.
The Now Bar was used for very basic information, such as the amount of time left on the kitchen timer or to pause the current song playing. However, Samsung later added more sophisticated information, such as the weather, sports scores, and Google Maps traffic updates for your daily commute. It is slowly becoming the place to go for live information.

Why This Update Matters

Currently, it can be quite frustrating to check a missed call. In most cases, you are required to wake up your screen, strain your eyes to look at the small icons at the top, or even unlock your phone to know who called you.
With the One UI 8.5 update, that’s about to change. If you miss a call, the alert will show up clearly on the bottom bar. So the moment you turn on your screen, you’ll know right away that you missed a call, no extra steps needed.

Looking Toward the Future

Though this feature is still in beta on Android 16, the future is bright and Samsung is on it. Present smartphones are complex, this feature wants your phone to feel more human. It willput key stuff where you look at often, making the device feel more natural.
