Vivo's launching the X300s in China later this month. Executive Han Boxiao just shared official details. Big screen. 200MP camera. Gaming focus. Launches as X200s successor.

Key Points:

  1. Vivo X300s launches in China later this month as X200s successor
  2. First vivo X series with 144Hz display supporting native 144FPS MOBA gaming
  3. 200MP Zeiss camera positions device between X300 and X300 Ultra tiers
  4. War Drum dual speakers and 751440 vibration motor target gaming experience
  5. Dimensity 9500 chip and 7,000mAh battery rumored for specs

Why Not Call It Max?

Internally, Vivo called this phone "X300 Max" during development. Makes sense given the huge screen and upgraded specs. But they scrapped that name.
Final decision? Keep it X300s for user familiarity. The "s" officially stands for "SuperMax" though. So basically Max without actually saying Max.
Marketing logic honestly. People already know the "s" designation from X200s. Changing to Max might confuse buyers expecting a different product tier.

Where It Sits in the Lineup

The X300s slots between regular X300 and the X300 Ultra flagship. Ultra targets professional photographers. Regular X300 balances everything. X300s focuses on gamers wanting great cameras too.
Han said it's for people wanting "high-end photography and robust gaming performance" together. That's the positioning clearly.

Display Goes 144Hz

Screen measures 6.78 inches using BOE Q10 Plus panel material. Flat display, not curved edges. First vivo X series phone hitting 144Hz refresh rate.
Most flagships stick at 120Hz. Gaming phones push 144Hz or higher. Vivo bringing gaming-level refresh to their camera-focused lineup.

Supports native 144FPS for big MOBA games. League of Legends Wild Rift. Honor of Kings. Games like that benefit from higher frame rates during intense team fights.
The screen also uses "circular polarized light 2.0" tech. Supposedly easier on eyes during long sessions. Marketing claim we can't verify without testing.

Audio Gets War Drum Speakers

Vivo borrowed the "1511 War Drum Master symmetrical dual speakers Pro" from iQOO 15. That's a mouthful meaning big speakers top and bottom.
1511 refers to speaker size apparently. Larger speakers generally sound better and louder. Upgraded amps and tuning algorithms improve things further.

Gaming benefits from better positional audio. Hearing footsteps accurately. Gunfire direction. Sound cues matter competitively.

Haptics Go Massive

Custom 751440 ultra-sensory vibration motor gets installed. Han claims it's the biggest and strongest motor ever in X series phones.
Despite being smaller and lighter than standard 0816 motors, it supposedly matches 1016 motor intensity. Also offers 2.2x bandwidth versus typical 9595 motors.
Supports custom 4D vibration for over 10 popular mobile games. That means different vibration patterns for different in-game actions.

Camera and Other Specs

Zeiss 200MP main sensor leads the camera setup. Photos from MWC showed two lenses flanking the Zeiss logo with a third above them. Typical triple camera arrangement.
Dimensity 9500 chip powers everything according to leaks. MediaTek's upcoming flagship processor. Battery hits 7,000mAh capacity reportedly. Massive battery for all-day gaming sessions.

Launch Timing

Later this month in China. Exact date unknown. Pricing unknown. More details coming soon apparently.
Whether this actually appeals to gamers wanting camera quality or photographers wanting gaming features depends on execution. Trying to serve two masters often means compromising both.
