Google
just dropped Android 17 Beta 1 this week. Here's the weird part: the beta contains literally zero new features. It exists purely as a foundation for developers to start testing compatibility. Despite the empty feature set, we already know which Xiaomi devices will eventually receive Android 17 based on the company's official update policies.
Key Points:
- Over 70 Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO devices confirmed eligible for Android 17 update
- Redmi Note 14 5G and POCO M7 Pro 5G surprisingly excluded despite recent launch
- Android 17 Beta 1 contains zero new features, serves only as developer foundation
- Flagship devices expected to receive beta updates during Spring 2026 around Google I/O
- All eligible devices should receive stable Android 17 before end of 2027
The Big List
XiaomiTime
compiled eligibility by cross-referencing Xiaomi's AER Information page against update promises made during each device's launch. Over 70 models made the cut spanning
Xiaomi,
Redmi, and
POCO branding.
Flagship devices obviously get priority. The entire Xiaomi 17 lineup qualifies—standard, Pro, Pro Max, and Ultra variants including Leica editions. Foldables like the MIX FLIP 2 and MIX FOLD 4 are covered. Tablets including the Pad 8, Pad 8 Pro, and various Pad 7 models also make the list.
Previous generation flagships stay supported too. Xiaomi 15, 14, and 13 series phones all qualify for Android 17. Same goes for their Pro and Ultra variants.
Mid-range territory gets messier. POCO F-series phones from F6 through F8 will receive updates. X-series devices like X6 Pro and X7 variants are included. Redmi K-series from K60 Ultra forward qualifies. Note series coverage varies—Note 14 Pro, Note 15, and Note 15 Pro all get Android 17.
Budget options see limited support. POCO M7 and M8 lineups are covered. Redmi 14R 5G and 15C variants make the cut. Even some POCO C-series phones like C71 and C85 will eventually receive Android 17.
The Surprise Exclusion
Here's what caught attention: Redmi Note 14 5G won't get Android 17 despite being relatively recent. Neither will POCO M7 Pro 5G, which shares hardware with the Note 14 5G.
Xiaomi's AER information page explicitly confirms this. The company's own specification sheet for Redmi Note 14 5G states plainly: "Built with HyperOS 1.0 on Android 14, the Redmi Note 14 5G promises 2 years of OS updates and 4 years of security updates."
That phone launched on HyperOS 1.0 running Android 14. Two OS updates means Android 15 and Android 16. Android 17 falls outside the support window. Security patches continue through 2028, but major OS upgrades stop at 16.
When Updates Actually Arrive
Xiaomi typically pushes first beta builds during Google I/O events. Looking at historical patterns, Xiaomi 17, 17 Ultra, and possibly 17T Pro should see beta access during Spring 2026.
If the 17T Pro hasn't launched by then, beta slots go to the Xiaomi 15T Pro instead as the current flagship alternative.
Stable Android 17 from Google probably lands June or July 2026. Xiaomi adapts it for flagships immediately. Mid-range devices lag behind by 5-6 months typically. Budget phones take even longer.
Every device on the eligibility list should receive stable Android 17 before 2027 ends though, assuming no unexpected delays hit development cycles.
