Xiaomi proved with the Mi Band that it had the mettle to make gadgets beyond
phones -- wearables, specifically. The Mi Band received a minor update a few months back, but that didn't quite cut it for the market.
There are quite a few options for a smartwatch, but any Chinese company has yet to make it big in that department. Big things are expected of Xiaomi when they do release a smartwatch of their own.
According to Liu De, one of Xiaomi's eight co-founders, a smartwatch from the Xiaomi stable is beyond just rumour and is planned for H2 this year. What De said however, is in contrast to
Huami CEO Huang Wang words, who

Mi Band 2 along with the Mi Smartwatch would come Q2 this year.
In related
news, Xiaomi announced it would be setting up 60 offline stores in the coming months. This comes straight after offline giants OPPO and Vivo pushed Xiaomi out of the global top 5,
as reported earlier today.
