Meitu have forever been known as a maker mostly interested in producing smartphones that feature prolific selfie cameras. Everything else is secondary. Today, Meitu unveiled a new offering in the Meitu T8.
The phone is no different in terms of it’s USP. It’s being sold as a ‘dual pixel’ selfie camera phone, with the rest of the specs screaming ‘high end Chinese’. Let’s have a look at the full Meitu T8 specifications.
Meitu T8 Specifications
- 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080p display
- MediaTek Helio X20 deca-core processor
- 4GB RAM
- 128GB on-board storage
- 12 mega-pixel dual pixel selfie camera
- 21 mega-pixel rear camera with OIS
- 3580mAh battery
As a ‘regular’ smartphone, the T8 does have some decent grunt under the hood. However, the rather eccentric design and the 12 mega-pixel dual pixel selfie camera will ensure the T8 targets a very niche set of buyers (or we believe it will).
According to SlashGear, Dual Pixel tech refers to the fact that “each pixel in a sensor makes use of two photodiodes, one on each half of the pixel. These two photodiodes allow the sensor to make use of phase detect autofocus without the need for a separate phase detect AF sensor.”
The phone has been priced 3,300 Yuan ($480) in China.
