At the ‘Spring Loaded‘ event, Apple announced a bunch of new products such as the M1-powered iPad Pro, a new colorful iMac, and a purple version of the iPhone 12. Apart from all these, the Cupertino-based iPhone maker has also expanded its Find My ecosystem by launching AirTag. Just like Galaxy SmartTag, Apple’s AirTag is a small device that can help you track the object that it is attached to. The all-new tracking device is priced at $29. It is also available in four-pack for a $99 price tag.

Just like most trackers, you can use Apple AirTag on various objects such as handbags, keys, backpacks, and more. Whenever you lost the attached objects, AirTag can help you locate them using the global Find My network. The company also claims to keep the location data private and anonymous with end-to-end encryption. AirTag comes with a small and lightweight form factor. It is made up of stainless steel and has an IP67 rating meaning it is dust and water-resistant.

It also comes with a built-in speaker that will play a sound to help you located the connected object. Just like AirPods, AirTags will connect to your iPhone if you’ll bring it closer to your device. Once AirTag is set up, you’ll be able to see it inside the Find My app under the items tab. The compact tracker also supports Siri meaning you can use voice commands to find your lost object.

To keep things more precise and accurate, Apple has integrated its in-house U1 chip with ultra-wideband technology. Thanks to Precision Finding, AirTag can accurately determine the distance and direction. There’s a Lost Mode that allows you to be notified when AirTag is in range or has been located by Find My network. In the Lost mode, other users can find your AirTag and then can contact you so you can retrieve it.
