Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra With Surge C2 ISP Ought To Come In July

Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra

The latest news proves that Qualcomm will uncover the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus around May 20. Thus, the first smartphones with this chip onboard will hit the market in a month or so. There have been leaks saying that the Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra will be among the first models sporting this chip. But recently, XiaomiUI found the phone in the code of the latest software version. The device is codenamed Thor. As the stable version of MIUI is not yet ready, there is every reason to think that the Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra may not officially debut until June or even July.

The Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra ought to come with a 6.73-inch 3200×1440 resolution display, which will use an LTPO 2.0 AMOLED panel. In simple words, the display will adaptively adjust the refresh rate up to 120Hz.

Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra Camera

Though these two features make the Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra a true flagship, they are not the biggest highlights of the phone. We mean the camera on the rear is what customers should take a look at when buying this smartphone. The triple-camera module will include a 50-megapixel main camera, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 48-megapixel telephoto lens. The front-facing camera will have a 48-megapixel resolution. From various tipsters, we heard that the main camera will use the Sony IMX 989 CMOS. The sensor area of the latter will be close to 1”.  This simply means that it would be one of the largest sensors on the market. We have already seen some models coming with 1-inch sensors. Among them, we can mention the Leica Phone 1 and the Sony Xperia Pro-I. But these cameras are already a few years old.

Xiaomi has experience in developing its own ISP chip. And the Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra is expected to come with the self-developed Surge C2 ISP.

We have also got a few renders based on the current rumors and leaks. As we can see, the phone is going to support 120x zoom and come with a Leica tuning.

Previously, Huawei has been chosen as Leica’s number one partner in the smartphone field. However, because of its passiveness, Leica has decided to change its partner. We guess due to this cooperation, the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra will top the DxO list. Thus, we are dealing with the future best camera phone. In this regard, it shouldn’t be considered the most powerful smartphone in Xiaomi’s lineup.
