Tesla and Twitter CEO Elon Musk just got himself in a little bit of trouble on his newly Acquired platform Twitter. On Sunday 18th of December, Elon Musk run a poll on Twitter. In the Poll, he asked Twitter users whether he should step down as the head of the social media company. He went on to say he would abide the results of the poll.

When I first saw the poll, I had this funny feeling that it was not going to end so well in favor of Elon Musk. It seems the expected did happen. The poll closed on Monday and at the end of it all, 57.5% of Twitter users voted for him to step down. Elon Musk Twitter

Elon Musk is a very active user of Twitter even before he acquired it. However, he went silent after the poll has ended on Monday. A lot of users were of the view that the Tesla founder’s silence on Twitter means that he was not too satisfied with the results.

Elon Musk Broke His Silence On Twitter

Finally, he broke his silence with a tweet. Just like everyone else expected the tweet from Elon Musk clearly showed that he was not satisfied with the poll results. In actual fact his tweet was a reply to one of the tweets suggesting that the poll was skewed by fake Twitter accounts. Elon Musk Twitter

The user’s suggestion was that only Twitter Blue subscribers must be allowed to vote for policy related polls. This tweet got the attention of Elon Musk which he replied with “Good point. Twitter will make that change.

Gizchina News of the week

The poll did go against him, but as the CEO who also holds majority of shares in the company, no one can force him out. But some recent decisions and changes might force the tides against him.

Last week, Twitter banned an account that tracks the location of Musk’s private jet. This followed with the ban of many journalists around the globe. This has forced a lot of journalists and influencers to look for an alternative platform to Twitter. A good alternative like Mastodon is reaping the benefits now. Most users also started sharing links to their Mastodon accounts and other social media platforms on Twitter.

Elon Musk Banned Links To Other Social Media Platforms On Twitter Elon Musk Twitter

This has also not gone so well with Musk and to curb this, Twitter banned all links leading to other social media networks. This includes Mastodon, Instagram, Facebook and minor platforms such as Nostr and Linktree.

However, Twitter removed the ban by the end of the day, after a Twitter poll from the Twitter Safety account. Musk tweeted on this saying; “Going forward, there will be a vote for major policy changes. My apologies. Won’t happen again.”

On Twitter, the Tesla founder is well known for using Twitter polls to make major decisions. A notable example is what we witnessed in 2021. That is when he sold ten percent of his Tesla shares after one poll. Last month, the Twitter Account of ex American president Donald Trump which was banned also came to life after poll results went in favor of the ex-president.

However, Musk seems to take his decisions even before he starts running any polls on Twitter. He had already announced the sale of his Tesla holdings before the Twitter polls. He had also discussed his decision to bring Trump’s account back even before he acquired the platform.

Same applies to the idea of stepping down as the CEO of Twitter. On the 16th of November, he told a Delaware judge that he plans to reduce his time on Twitter. He therefore intends to find someone else to Run the platform Over Time.
