Google Nexus 7 tablet available on the Chinese grey market

The Nexus 7 tablet has been selling like crazy across the US and Europe, with many resellers and stores announcing they are already out of stock! Well if you really want a Nexus 7 you could always try the Chinese grey markets!

China is always one of the last markets to officially get any new tech, the iPad 3 is a good example of this as it only became officially available in Apple stores across China last Friday!

But what is that strange word which keeps cropping up? ‘official’ there it is! The thing with China is although shoppers here might have to wait months to be able to buy the latest phones or tablets in high street stores, the latest tech, the New iPad included, is always on sale on launch day thanks to the thriving grey market.

Gizchina News of the week

So, although Google’s Nexus 7 Android Jelly Bean tablet made by Asus isn’t officially available in China, and that many stores around the world don’t have stock it is relatively easy for savvy Chinese shoppers to buy the Nexus 7 now!

Google Nexus 7 tablet available on the Chinese grey market

As always it is e-commerce site Taobao which is leading the grey market sales of Nexus 7 tablets with plenty of vendors to choose from with Nexus 7 prices ranging from as little as 1600 Yuan rising to 2600 Yuan ($250-$407).

Having said that, when we originally checked for Nexus 7 tablets on Taobao yesterday there were hundreds of stores to choose from where as today there are much fewer! Whether this means Taobao are closing down Nexus 7 sellers or the new Google tablet is selling just as well in China is yet to be seen!
