JiaYu G5: a quad-core 4.5-inch iPhone 5 clone coming soon!

There has been a lot of talk recently about the idea Apple could be launching a larger 4.8-inch iPhone later this year, but why wait that to turn in to nothing buy rumour when JiaYu are planning the JiaYu G5! A quad-core, 4.5-inch iPhone 5 clone coming soon!

JiaYu phones have always been “inspired” from other phones, but they have always stayed well clear of becoming a manufacturer of clones. Well, that is until now, as they seem to have thrown caution to the wind are a launching an iPhone 5 clone with 4.5-inch display!

The JiaYu G5 could be the answer to many iPhone fans dreams as the device will boast all the look and feel of the current iPhone 5, but with the addition of a larger 4.5-inch OGS 720p display.

As usual there is no firm release date (a blessing when it comes to JiaYu) but we do have some specifications for the G5 and it all looks quite promising.

Gizchina News of the week

Behind the 4.5-inch display and under the iPhone body, the JiaYu G5 will boast a quad-core MT6589 processor running at 1.2Ghz, 2GB RAM, 32GB of on-board memory, 3 mega-pixel front camera and a 13 mega-pixel rear camera. The body is said to measure in at just 7.85mm and will come with a choice of either 1850mAh or 3000mAh batteries.

We imagine the JiaYu G5 will be priced at slightly above the upcoming JiaYu G4 so expect prices of between 1200-1500 Yuan ($192-$240).

Thanks to David for the tip!

Besides being an Iphone clone, what makes the G5 better than the G4!?

    Hi Andi,

Please confirm if the front camera is of 0.3 mega-pixel resolution but not 3 mega-pixel?

I think there must be a mistake somewhere, as 3MP sounds more appropriate.

    Cheers!

      Pretty sure it’s 0.3

I was thinking the G5 is for those who want smaller phone but with the Quad core, however the difference between 4.5″ and 4.7″ is 9.5mm I know that is diagonal but the difference in phone size G5-130mm and G4-133mm does not make the G5 that attractive. G4 gives you a lot more screen for not a lot more body. Maybe Jiayu should realise the IPhone 5 is not as big a hit as what most people thought it would be. I think building a vline is a step back for Jiayu.

I don’t mind it being ‘inspired’ by the iPhone, I even think that it could be pretty cool, but I thoroughly hate the kind of cloned-iOS-on-Android like the GooPhone you reviewed a couple of days ago. Stock Android would be much more awesome! And 4,5 inch is already a lot better than 5 inch, that would be too big for me now.

    1. Front camera is 3MP by Jiayu (and not 0.3MP)
    2. 5″ Jiayu is JiaYu S1

I’m a neubie at chinese cell phones is wcdma the same as cdma? Also i am reading alot about rooting what is this?

wcdma is nothing but 3G network and rooting is like taking the control over the software of the android phone so u can install modified android ROM’S etc, that is similar to jailbreking in iphone

    Andi

G5 is not exact clone (not considering screen size) it has android touch keys instead of single round home / menu button usually we seen in iphone . I got an official pic from jiayu forums and lastly initially they wanted to name this device as jiayu g3s but changed later .

Not sure if Apple will see it that way 🙂

Bad idea jiayu, the kind of guy who buys a clone actually wants to fool others into thinking he has a $700 phone

Making it bigger than the iphone would be a huge giveaway, and the design is not that iconic as to compensate for this

Spec wise it looks great but that price is going to be far higher in the web, just like its still impossible to buy a G3 for $160 outside of china

Months ago I had two SIM cards, so I was looking for a dual SIM smartphone. Given that “western” brands are light years behind, in that field, and cost way more than they are worth, I was looking to buy a Jiayu G4. Right now, I’m glad I waited, and I reduced myself to 1 SIM card, buying a Xiaomi MI2-S. This piece of junk demonstrates between Xiaomi and Jiayu there is a huge quality gap.

First of all, clones are horrible. It shows you haven’t got ideas of your own, you are not worth that much, as you’ve got to ride someone else’s gravy train. Second, of all brands one can copy, Apple is sure the worst. iPhones are overpriced junk and a status symbol, they are for people to show they have money and do not know how to spend them, while they understand nothing of technology, as way better phones cost way less and give better freedom of decision for brain-provided users. A cheap iPhone look-alike does not even have that meaning, and just perpetrates the old tradition of Morocco stands selling faux and non working items, sellers in Naples screwing you by giving you packages with bricks inside instead of phones, and Chinese stores making counterfeit products while selling them for original ones, both damaging the buyer and the honest makers they rip off. Very little difference there is.

Way to go Xiaomi instead, making original phones just as good as Apple, Nexus, Samsung and HTC ones (for example, using Qualcomm Snapdragon instead of cheap Mediatek MTK) at way lower prices, just thanks to an innovative marketing strategy. Please make our brands run for their money. Force them to review their strategies instead of overpricing their phones. Conquer our markets, you deserve that.
