Taiwanese reports say Xiaomi Hongmi 2 to will be 8-core

According to news reports in Taiwan, Xiaomi are already courting Meidatek and their 8-core MT6592 processor for the next generation Xiaomi Hongmi.

Just as 2013 is the year of the quad-core phone in China, 2014 is going to be the year of the 8-core and Mediatek plan to be king once again! Their plan is already in progress to with brands such as Oppo, Lenovo, Gionee, Vivo, Xiaocai and more already confirming they plan to launch MT6592 phones.

Gizchina News of the week

The latest and arguably most exciting brand to be linked to 8-core phone development is Xiaomi. Xiaomi are apparently working on a successor to the budget Hongmi phone, and are looking at the MT6592 as a possible all in one solution. A 799 Yuan 8-core Xiaomi is a very interesting prospect, but we can’t really expect to see such a phone until late 2014.
