The Google Pixel 6a has been the talk of the town for so long time that we managed to get too many rumors about it. Most of them were contradicting each other. However, yesterday, Google launched tons of new products at the I/O conference. Apart from announcing Android 13, and sharing some details about the Google Pixel 7, the tablet, and other products, the company also released the Pixel 6a. Moreover, Google talked about the phone’s specs comparing it with the rumors that appeared on the net before.
Google Pixel 6a Camera
One of the key features of the Google Pixel 6a is the camera. Though it’s basically similar to its predecessor, the manufacturer has still made some improvements. In terms of hardware, the camera module includes a 12.2MP primary camera and a 12MP ultrawide lens. Due to the new Tensor chipset, the phone will be capable of capturing way better photos. Unfortunately, the phone lacks the Motion Mode camera feature. (This feature allows the fast-moving objects to remain in focus, minimizing blur.) Instead, the Google Pixel 6a supports Night Sight, Real Tone skin colors, and the enhanced Magic Eraser option.
As a reference, the Google Pixel 5a camera with 12MP wide and 16MP ultrawide lenses. Thus, the Pixel 6a sports a different 12MP ultrawide camera sensor. The latter allows the camera system to get more light in and have much larger individual pixels.
So there is every reason to think that due to a new camera system and the new Tensor chip, the Google Pixel 6a will provide users with a much better photography experience. And take into consideration that we are dealing with a budget mid-ranger.
Google Pixel 6a Appearance and Screen
Google’s Pixel series phones have always had a unique signature. This pocket-friendly phone is no exception. Due to some design details, you will recognize the series immediately. When saying this, first, we mean the camera module on the back. All camera components are arranged horizontally on a strip. The latter splits the back panel into two parts.
Also, there are three color options you can choose from – Charcoal, Chalk, and Sage.
On the opposite side, we have a 6.2-inch display with a 1080p resolution. It uses a punch-hole screen design and supports a 60Hz refresh rate. This is not anything we can praise Google for hours. But it still provides an amazing viewing experience.
The rest of the features include 6GB LPDDR5 RAM + 128GB UFS 3.1 storage combination, an 8MP front shooter, a 4410mAh battery, which supports a 30W fast charging, Google claims up to 72 hours of use on a single charge when using Ultra Battery Saver.
In addition, the Pixel 6a supports WiFi 6E. It is IP67 waterproof. Google is also promising 3 years of Android updates and 5 years of security updates for the Pixel 6a. Sadly, the Pixel 6a is the first model in the Pixel series to not feature a 3.5mm headphone jack.
