Land Rover set to take action over $25,000 Chinese Evoque clone

landwind x7

Chinese car maker Land Wind are set to launch their Land Wind X7 in China shortly much to the anger of Jaguar Land Rover bosses who say the car is a clone of the Evoque!

Land Rover CEO Ralf Speth has spoken out against the Chinese Land Wind X7 which he claims breaches intellectual properly laws. As seen in these photos, the $25,000 Land Wind could easily pass as the luxury Land Rover Evoque that costs more than 3 times as much in China.

Gizchina News of the week

Land Rover have recently set up a joint venture with Chinese auto maker Chery which will see the Evoque along with other Jaguar and Land Rover cars manufactured in China. This teaming with Chery (a government owned Chinese car maker) could be the muscle that JLR will need if planning to take Land Wind to court over an IP dispute.

This is the second time we have seen the Evoque get the knock off treatment in China, and likely won’t be the last time we see a clone car make headlines.

Love China. I hope the Chinese industries fu.ck every western company’s happiness like this – right from Autos, to Phones and consumer electronics, and everything in between. The pricing gradient is tilting, and 10 years down the line, China has the ability to pretty much rape and decimate the global brands with its homegrown offerings. I have a feeling it will happen, and I can’t wait. Long live China.

Seriously, tell me where I can purchase this car. It looks really exquisite to be honest. But I don’t know how rugged it will be and how good will be its off road capabilities.
