List: All Xiaomi phones that will be getting Android 7.0 Nougat

Xiaomi list Android 7.0 Nougat

We just got hold of a list of Xiaomi devices that are going to get Android 7.0 Nougat and the unlucky ones that won’t. If you own a Xiaomi smartphone, then keep reading!

Xiaomi list Android 7.0 Nougat

Let’s begin with the flagship Mi lineup, all the latest devices are getting updated to Android Nougat, except the Mi3 and the original Mi Note. So we’re talking about: Mi4, Mi5, Mi5s, Mi5s PlusMi Note 2, Mi Max and Mi Mix.

As far as the Redmi series goes, they’ll all get updated starting from the Redmi 3S and upwards, those include the Redmi 3S, Redmi 3S Prime, Redmi 4A, Redmi 4 and Redmi 4 Prime.

Gizchina News of the week

Meanwhile, on the Redmi Note lineup, the Redmi Note 3 and Redmi Note 4 will get Android Nougat, although it’s not specified if they’re talking about the MediaTek or Snapdragon version. But looking at how the MTK Redmi Note 3 has been treated up until now I think it’s safe to assume it will not get the latest build of Android.

If you prefer looking at a table instead of reading, then here’s it:

This is a Mediatek phone too. Xiaomi treated bad the mediatek phone from the past. But I suppose that’s also (or only) Mediatek’s fault. I hope it will get an update because its a very new and one of a kind phone.

Think X2x MTK’s should be getting it as we know MTK is still supporting that range of SoC’s, we only don’t know when as no closed beta emerged up until now for any based MTK model. Guess it’s MTK’s move.

Mi3 and Mi4 share same codename and firmware. How they will be separate on Android 7 updates?

The mi4 will definitely not be getting nougat because its snapdragon 801 and qualcomm have said they wont be supporting it.

Most likely no, while other MTK phones got a bump to newer Android version the Xiaomi ones didn’t….

My mi5 has the developer whatever update enabled and I got 7.0 yesterday on the 7.1.19 MIUI 8 Beta rom. 🙂

I am afraid no. The official & CAF support is terminated around two months ago (for everything up to S805). Still their is a good chance it will be getting community (Xda & similar) costume ROM builds.

Then the list is another speculation rather than official Xiaomi statement ?

        • Lazar Prodanovic
          January 24, 2017

Well it’s official community & its not a speculation when you have close beta roms and their testers there. Besides you heve some of those beta MiUI 8 N ROM’s in their leaked form on developer communications as XDA. Speculative part is for models that are almost the twins of those listed & leaked but as they do contain the same bord (Soc) similar device tree (hardware) & dts I think that make it more than a rumour or gossip.

Then you should know exactly i.e. of Redmi Note 4 if MediaTek based version will get Nougat update. When in the article I see doubts about it ???

            • Lazar Prodanovic
              January 24, 2017

I don’t know exactly. I “assume” it will as MTK is supporting X2x SoC’s regarding N and even phones from new startups like Vernee (Apollo Lite) are getting it. I also assume it will come at least two months after first releases for Snapdragon powerd one’s as it whose (source) available much later. Can’t claim anything for MTK.

Little more than a than a year and they abandoned Mi4c. This is not nice Xiaomi. So the next iteration of the sweetness will be available only on phones that are only thoughts in the developers mind yet, won’t it?

Hey and thanks for the reply ! I’m on MIUI 8.3 – 7.5.11. I discovered those roms too. Waiting now for the Android 7.1 update.

The phone, I bought it for 389 euro on their italian website (mi-italia if you google xiaomi italia – right now it is 319,90 down from 389 that I paid for), about 12 months ago if I remember well (I should check the invoice for the exact date), the week it was launched in Italy. I was waiting for their official EU support since then, but nothing – I had to root my phone voiding the warranty which is bad, because now my battery is almost dead – I’m using an external battery most of the time.

The main problem now is that the battery lasts less than a day (it was 100% this morning, now I’m at 54%, with all battery saving tips on – I watched a ton of videos and readed a lot on how optimizing the battery + I have a smartphone since 2008 … I know pretty much everything about it, including rooting). I installed a battery testing software for rooted phones and it is saying that the battery mah is “toasted” and that it needs replacement. I only could find a replacement on batteryupgrade, for 30 euro. At this point, investing more money on this phone isn’t very appealing to me since opening it could (most likely) break the amoled display …

Anyways, I can’t afford buying another phone right now, so I’m stuck with this … I’m trying to get the best out of it, but I’m not happy at all. As for photos, I’m using Open Camera and it doesn’t drain 1% / minute like the official app.

Again, thank you for your reply, but I’m VERY dissapointed in this phone … by far my worst smartphone choice in the past 3 years … I was always buying Samsung, but my daughter took my last one (S6) and also I bought another Samsung for my wife (S7), to take better photos. I was thinking that I could spare some money with Redmi Pro since it had many positive reviews … I will buy an S8 for myself this summer.

Will not post anymore, since it is a pointless waste of time. I suggest you do the same. Bye !
