It’s been a bit of a tough week for Xiaomi, their latest Oreo update for the Xiaomi Mi A1 did indeed bring some bugs along with it. Some customers have reported swift battery drain while others have had problems with the camera software; click here to read more about it. As far as rumors go, this week had a look at what could possibly a Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 with the trendy 18:9 display aspect ratio design and a super high screen-to-body ratio.

Another company that has caught many people’s attentions in the past weeks is Vivo. The latest leak regarding the Chinese phone manufacturer does indeed show a smartphone with a display that covers pretty much the entirety of the front side, thus bringing a screen-to-body ratio of almost 100%. The handset is said to be the upcoming Vivo Xplay7 and feature high-end specs.

Meizu 15 Plus

We seem to be talking about the Meizu 15 Plus constantly, with new rumors surfing the web every other day. This time around we finally have a look at the smartphone hands on. The 15 Plus incredibly slim bezels, with the bottom chin being almost totally gone, meanwhile on the back we have two real cameras accompanied by a fingerprint scanner. Meizu’s phone is also rumored to be coming with real flagship specs.

Gizchina News of the week

Bad news for South Korean tech giant – LG. The company has indeed suffered huge losses for the past two years and it only managed to get a little gain in the first quarter of 2017. Previously, LG lamented that the competition from Chinese brands is pushing them out of business in China, now, reports coming out of China seem to suggest that the company is officially pulling out of the Chinese smartphone market.

Chinese phone maker THL are apparently back from the dead. The company did in fact just released the successor of the Knight 1, obviously calling it THL Knight 2. The smartphone does look a look like a Samsung S8 clone, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing as you get that nice high screen-to-body ratio and slim bezels at a much lower price.

Our trusty reviewer Zi Jin Cheng spent a bit of his time using the latest Maze Alpha X. The smartphone comes with a large 6-inch 2160×1080 display surrounded by a thin top bezel, Xiaomi Mi MIX2 style. Click here to read the full review!
