It has just been one month since the official unveil of the octa-core MT6592, and rumours of an upcoming LTE-enabled 8 core chipset are already rife

ZTE are rumoured to launch it’s own 8-core Wisefone 7550s processor on the 20th Feb to go head to head with Mediatek, LG, and Huawei!

Earlier this year Mediatek launched the 8-core MT6592 for smarpthone use, and now Android tablets are going to receive some octa-core goodness with the new 8-core MT8392 chipset.

Rumour has it that Meizu’s first Mediatek equipped phone could also be the companies first attempt to enter the 4G LTE market.

Chinese phone maker, and relative newcomer to the phone scene, FAEA have announced that they will release source code for their Mediatek phones and plans on building a CyanogenMod dev team!

There has been a lot of talk about Mediatek’s 8-core MT6592, with many claiming it is just not needed on a mobile device, however this may not be true as game developers Gameloft are already announcing new games will be optimised for the powerful new SoC.

China’s Coolpad have teamed up with Taiwan’s Mediatek and will launch an MT6592 8-core phone at Mediatek’s press event.

Meizu are rumoured to have a low-cost Mediatek powered phone in the works to rival similar handsets from rivals Oppo and Vivo!
