Google to present “something exciting” at Galaxy Unpacked event

We’re just a few days away from finally knowing the new Galaxy S20 series in all its glory. Of course, these devices have been leaking a lot to the point that there’s no much room for surprises right now. But still, it’s at Samsung’s Unpacked event that we’ll officially know every bit of detail of the new Galaxy S20 phones and the brand new foldable Galaxy Z Flip. If you thought you already knew everything about that event, we have a surprise – Google will be present at the conference.

Apparently, the company has some “exciting news” for Android that will be revealed during the event. The search giant published the news through Twitter’s official Android account. The “exciting news” words leave us guessing what exactly it could be.

This secret announcement is something that Google successfully has kept under wraps until now. For that reason, everything we have right now is some assumptions. According to GSMArena’s report, it should be the native support for Google Duo in the new Galaxy smartphones. There were reports from South-Korea suggesting that Samsung is working on a new format of video messaging for smartphones. Perhaps, Google and Samsung are working in partnership to expand Google’s Duo usage.

The second possibility is Android wants to demonstrate an optimized interface for foldable screen devices since the Galaxy Z Flip will be present at the event. Google itself already confirmed native support in Android 10 for foldable devices. It also wants to offer tools to app developers to visualize how will their product appear in various form factors, which includes clamshell designs.

For now, we have to wait and see what Google really has in tow for the big Unpacked event.
