Confirmed: Honor 50 Series To Come With Google Mobile Services Pre-Installed

Everyone understands that Huawei was going to beat all of its competitors including Samsung. It had already managed to outrun Apple. So to keep the things as before and to ‘kill’ a competitor, the US government brought a number of bans not allowing any US company to cooperate with this China-based first-tier manufacturer. As a result, Huawei has almost completely withdrawn from the smartphone market. But for such cases, Huawei has prepared a plan B, that is Honor. Previously, this brand was using Huawei’s new technologies and was selling its phones through online platforms mainly. But after Huawei’s appearance on the US entity list, the company’s strategy changed. Honor is an independent brand now and it is not on the list. Thus, it CAN use various technologies from the US firms. And the upcoming Honor 50 series is going to do so.

The Honor 50 looks almost identical to the Huawei P50. The latter is on the way but its future isn’t as bright as that of the Honor 50. But inside (both and hardware) will differ a lot. In this sense, the Huawei P50 is going to be a true flagship powered by the latest hardware, while the Honor 50 will be a pseudo-flagship handset.

Of course, it will use all those US technologies that the Huawei P50 can’t use. But instead of the top-end Snapdragon 888 chip, it will sport the Snapdragon 778G chip. To somehow fill the gaps, Honor will pair it with GPU Turbo X and Hunter Boost technologies. However, besides the processor, the rest of the features are comparable.

The Honor 50 Pro also features VC liquid cooling and “high thermal conductivity graphene technology” to enhance heat dissipation. Both models will come with a 120Hz hole-punch display of 6.57 inches and 6.72 inches, respectively. Interestingly, the Honor 50 Pro will feature a 4,000mAh battery supporting a 100W charging, whereas the Honor 50 comes with a 4,300mAh battery supporting a 66W fast charging. In numbers, the vanilla version will reach 70% of power within 20 minutes, while the higher version reaches 90% within the same time.

Anyway, the biggest highlight of the Honor 50 is not going to be either the Snapdragon chip or the Android system. It will be an ideal smartphone for vloggers. The series will have a quad-camera on the rear. It will include a primary 100MP lens, an 8MP wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth lens. The selfie shooter on the opposite side will vary from model to model. Say, the ordinary model will have a 32MP resolution, while the 50 Pro will come with an additional 12MP ultra-wide camera.

At last, one of the most anticipated features of the Honor 50 will be GMS. Google has already confirmed that the Honor 50 devices will go through Google’s security review.

“Honor devices will therefore have the option to have Google Mobile Services (“GMS”) preinstalled on compatible devices, in accordance with Google’s licensing and governance models.”

Also, Honor said that “Consumers will be able to experience Honor smartphones and tablets equipped with GMS.”
