Honor is getting ready to launch its next foldable phone, the Magic V5, and the main highlight is a much larger battery. This follows the release of the Magic V3, which had only a small battery improvement. Now, the upcoming Magic V5 will make a big jump in battery size and features.
A big battery for longer use
According to official listings from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the 3C certification, the Honor Magic V5 will come with a large 6,000mAh battery. The battery is made up of two parts: one rated at 2,070mAh and the other at 3,880mAh. Combined, the total rated capacity is 5,950mAh, but the typical (or actual) capacity should be over 6,000mAh. This is a major upgrade for a foldable phone, which usually has limited space for big batteries.
The Magic V5 will support 66W wired charging, just like previous models in the series. The charger types listed include adapter models HN-200330C04 and HN-200330C05. These can handle different power outputs, such as 5V at 2A, 11V at 3.2A, and up to 20V at 3.3A. This setup means fast and safe charging for the large battery.
Why there’s no Magic V4
Honor is expected to skip the name “Magic V4” due to superstitions around the number 4 in Chinese culture. Many phone companies in China avoid the number 4 because it sounds like the word for “death” in Mandarin. So the new model will be called Magic V5 instead.
Strong network and SIM support
The Magic V5, with model number MBH-AN10, supports many mobile network types, including 5G (SA and NSA), LTE, WCDMA, and GSM. It also includes support for Beidou-3 short messaging and 5G cross-network roaming. This means it can work well across different countries and networks. It is also a dual-SIM, dual-standby Android phone, giving users more flexibility.
Launch may happen soon
The Magic V5 received its official certification in China on April 17, 2025. The updated battery information and design details were added on May 8, 2025, suggesting that the phone is close to launch. Previous models were announced in July, but this one could arrive even earlier. Honor may also show it globally at the IFA tech event in Berlin, as they’ve done in the past.
